Boston Marathon

We arrived in Boston on April 19th.  The first thing we did was go check Matt into the race where he got all of his stuff including his number.  It was so crazy there with so many people!

Then we went and explored the city.

This was a place in Boston called little Italy.  Everything was very Italian we were not sure what this Mikes Pastry place was but it was way crowded and we saw lots of people with Mikes Pasty bags around Boston so we decided to take a picture in front of it because apparently it was a big deal there haha.

While we were walking around Little Italy we passed this neighborhood basketball court.  There were people gathering around and little kids wearing and holding Celtics jerseys so we decided to walk over and see what was going on.  When you got over there we realized that in was a Celtics player Rajon Rondo.  He was there doing a photo shoot.

April 20th was the day of the Marathon.  Matt woke up early that morning to go get on the busses that took the runners to the start of the race.  Brandy, my dad, Val and I woke a a little later to go and see him run some of the mile markers.  The first mile we were supposed to see him at was 16 but because of the Marathon there were so many people and the public transportation was just crazy so we weren't able to see him till mile 22.  At least we got to see him.  There were so many people along to whole race it was crazy to try and get anywhere.  We saw him one more time near the finish line.
Matt did great he ran it in 3:15 which is really great especially considering that he was still running with a injured knee. Brandy and I made really cool shirts and hats for Matt that we wore to the Marathon to support him. After the marathon we went back to the hotel for a nap and then my Dad and Val took us out to dinner to celebrate!  It was so much fun.

The next day before we had to fly out we went to see Fenway Park were the Boston Redsox play.  This was one thing Matt really wanted to do while we were there.  We took a tour of the park and it was really cool to see everything and hear all the history of the team and the park.

We flew standby to Boston so we were not able to make it all the way back to Utah but we did get on a flight to Chicago.  So we spent one night in Chicago which was cool because Matt served his mission in Chicago so we walked around the city for a while and had desert at a really nice place called Grand Lux.

Then the next morning we got back to Utah.  So it was a quick 3 day trip but it was for sure worth it!
