8 and 9 months

Ok so time is flying and with that time flying I am
busy busy busy. I have forgotten to post the last
2 months of my baby boy growing.

On December 20th he hit the 8 month mark.

And on January 20th 9 months.

In the last 2 months he has learned lots.

-He will stand for long amounts of time by himself until
he realizes he is doing it then he will slowly lower
himself to the floor.

-He eats well and has learned to drink out of his
straw stippy cup.

-He always wants to be crawling around or doing something.

-He has learned to sleep through the night really well.
Usually from 10:30pm to 8:30 or 9AM.

-He loves watching other kids and playing with them.
He will just laugh at kids playing sometimes.

-He has chosen roles for me and Matt.
He comes to be if he is tired, sad or hurt to be held.
He goes to Matt if he wants to play and have fun.

-The picture below is showing off this 2 new teeth.

Milo brings us so much joy and happiness.
We love him so much and feel so lucky to be
his parents.

Milo got to go to his first to Jazz games this week.

On the 29th we flew from Portland to Fresno CA.

Our good friends Mike and Sarah got married in the Fresno

temple on the 30th.

We also got to spend time with some good friends.

we are always excited to spend time with our friends

On Christmas morning at 10AM we flew

out of Salt Lake to Portland. Matt's parents

live in Vancouver, WA. We spent a few days

there having fun with family.

Temple square to see the lights and made Christmas

We are lucky enough to have lots of family to spend the holiday's with.

On Friday Christmas eve eve we went to my Dad's to have a early Christmas

dinner and open some gifts. Milo got spoiled this Christmas.

We spent Thanksgiving at my Aunt Pam's house in Provo. My family was able to come join us from Orderville. I always love Thanksgiving and the opportunity I have think about all the things I have to be thankful for.

After Thanksgiving dinner we went back to Salt Lake and went Ice Skating.

This little fella brings me and his dad so much happiness and joy. We love him so so much.

On November 20th he was 7 months old.

-He is crawling and crawling fast!

-He is still hit and miss with sleeping. Some nights he sleeps all night and sometime he wakes up twice.

-He eats baby fruits veggies and cereal. He is a great eater.

-He loves going anywhere in the house that he knows he is not supposed to go.

-He loves bath time.

-He loves play time with daddy because Matt always makes him laugh.

I love watching home grow and learn everyday.

My brother Camden was in his last high school play. We were able to go to Orderville for the weekend and watch him. He did such a great job.

We started our Halloween holiday weekend with a fun night with friends

at the Zoo. We went on an enchanted zoo tour at night and then headed to

a friends house for treats and fun.

Then Saturday we went to Great Grandma and Grandpa Bodell's

nursing home and had a family Halloween party.

Happy Halloween everyone. We spend our actually Halloween night

at home giving candy to the trick or treaters.

Week of Pumpkins

We we tried a few different things this week to see if we could get

some cute Milo pumpkin pictures.

First I tried to carve my pumpkin so that his legs would fit through.

My pumpkin was not big enough though so it just looked like a giant

orange diaper. Then he was not happy with us at all cuz the pumpkin

was cold inside and then his legs got stuck so we almost had to cut him out of it.

We had some friends over to carve pumpkins.

I saw this cute picture on pinterest.

I thought that is go cute I am going to do it.

Well it didn't work. We used our bed spread and it only took us snapping one

picture for him to pee and sit on our white bed spread with his orange paint

BUTT! Maybe next year. If is butt us still little and cute.

6 months

October 20th was Milo's 6 month birthday.

I know everyone says this but I seriously can not believe what fast he is growing.

Here are his 6 month measurements.

Height: 2'1.67" (23.88%)

Weight: 14lb 7.8 oz (5.88%)

Head: 43.3 cm (37.67%)

He has started to do a army scoot. He gets around pretty quick.

We now eats rice cereal and has eaten Apples and Bananas in baby food form.

He wears 3-6 and 6-9 cloths.

We moves a lot in his sleep and likes being on his stomach most.

He mostly sleeps through the night but sometimes wakes up ones for a little TLC.

He spends most of his day scooting around exploring.

5 months

On September 20th Milo was 5 months old.

I can't believe how fast my baby is growing and learning.

A few new things for the month.

-He is starting to learn to sit up.

-He eats 5 ounces every 3 hours and I just started feeding him rice cereal

-He sleeps really well from 8:30-4:30 then wakes to eat and then goes back to sleep till 7.

-He is wearing 3-6 months cloths.

-He loves playing on the floor, in his jumper and mostly being held.

-He only holds still when he is asleep otherwise his feet are moving like crazy.

-He makes lots of noises. He has a lot to say.

I love watching him take everything in and trying to figure out how things work.

He is just so interested in everything going on around him.

I love this little man. He is such a blessing to our family and brings us joy everyday.

First Baby Food

It was messy but he did great ate what he didn't get on his face, hands or body.

Top of Utah Marathon 2011

Last weekend Matt ran the Top of Utah Marathon in Logan Ut.

This is the second time he has run this Marathon. His goal this time

was to get under 3 hours.

Milo was a good fan of his DAD.

I made us both shirts to support our #1 Man.

I was grateful that our friends Mike and Sara came.

I would not have been able to hold an umbrella, camera and Milo.

We get to see Matt run by a few different places before going to the finish line.

He did so great!!! He ran it in 2:57:25. Just under his goal.

They were celebrating the great time.

Matt got 2nd place in his age group so he got a cool trophy.

I am so proud of him.

Ok so I realize that after you have a baby you take a lot less pictures of yourself and mostly all pictures of your baby. But how can I help it with this face? Milo spends a lot of time playing in the living room. He really likes the bouncer that cousin Brigham is letting him borrow.

My cousin Caleb and I have always been really close since we were born.
We are 2 months and 11 days apart.

Now we both have babies and they are 2 months and 23 days apart.

4 months

Yesterday we went to Milo's 4 month Dr. appointment.
He turned 4 months on Aug. 20th though.
His measurements are.
Height: 2'0.9'' (38.08%)
Weight: 12 lb. 7.7 oz (4.82%)
HC: 41.5 cm (22.79%)

-A few days before he was 4 months old he started turning over from his back to stomach. Now he does it all the time. He has not figured out how to roll back over to his back yet so he get frustrated pretty quick on his stomach.
-He can grab things now.
-He is very interested in what we are doing all the time. He watches us constantly.
-We is a mover and a talker. He is always wiggling and making crazy noises.
-Still no sleeping through the night but only wakes up once or twice to eat.
-He loves standing. He gets mad when you hold him like a baby, he wants to be held up on your lap with the weight put on his legs.
-He is sick right now for the first time. (just a little cold)

He is such a blessing and brings so much joy to our family. I am so grateful for him each and everyday. I am also grateful for Matt who stays home with him everyday while I go to work. He is such an amazing Dad!

Fresno Trip

This last weekend we took a quick trip to Fresno, CA. for our friend Christian's wedding.
Milo got to go on his first plane ride. He did very good. He only slept for the first 10 minutes but was a happy flyer the rest of the time. Just playing with mom and dad.

At the temple he didn't really want anyone to hold him because it was pretty warm. The grass was wet so I just layed this blanket on the cement to let him play but he didn't last very long before getting tired.

Friday was pretty much full of wedding festivities.
We went to the sealing in the morning at the temple.

Then to the luncheon.

And then that evening was the reception.
It was a beautiful wedding and we are glad we could be there.
We are so happy for Christian and his new bride Sara.

We also got to spend some time with our friends Jordan and Emily.
They used to live in Provo so we got to spend lots of time with them then,
but now they live in Davis, CA. where Jordan is going to Law School.
They were kind enough to pick us up from the Airport and take us to
Fresno. It was so great seeing them.

On Saturday we went to the lake with some our friends Josh and Jonet and their 2 kids.
I don't spend much time on the water but when I do it is always a good time. Matt used to
go to the lake all the time with Josh's family growing up so he was very excited for the chance
to again.

Unfortunately I did not take enough pictures in Fresno. We stayed with Jason and Chelsea and we were so grateful for their hospitality. We also got to catch up with many other friends in Fresno. We always have a great time there!

I was getting ready for work one morning when Milo popped his head out of the shower to say hello.

Poor little guy was so tired. Ususally do doesn't sleep without being wrapped up tight but he was to tired to wait for dad to swaddle him this day.

Tour of Utah

The Tour of Utah is a pretty big bike race. They go all over Utah from the 9-14th of Aug. On the 13th they raced practical in our back yard. The started and ended at the capitol and they did laps so it went by many times. Matt was so excited to be able to watch this. It was very cool to see. It is a pretty big deal. They are all professional teams that ride and a lot of them ride in big races like Tour De France.

I thought Milo was small still until I saw him next to a newborn baby.

Lava Hot Springs, ID

The first weekend end in August we went to Lava Hot Springs, Idaho.
My family started coming here when I was little for a quick family getta way.
It is only 2 1/2 hours from Salt Lake. We had so much fun tubing down the river,
chatting in the hot springs and swimming at the pool.

It was also Milo's first camping trip. He loved it!

3 months

Our little guy hit his 3 month mark yesterday. I put a picture from last month and this month because I didn't post his 2 month birthday. At his 2 month appointment he was
Height 1'11.19'' (46.76 percentile)
Weight 9lb 14.9 oz. (7.21 percentile)
Long and Skinny

I am not sure how much he weighs now. And you may not be able to tell the difference in these picture but I can! He is growing to fast! It has been so fun to watch him develop.

-His neck is pretty strong and he can hold his head up pretty well.
-He like sitting up and looking at everything.
-He can grip things when I put them in his hand.

-He reaches for things but then gets mad that he doesn't know how to grab them.
-He does not like tummy time.
-He loves the TV.
-He has slept through the night a few times (8 hours) but usually wakes up once to eat.
-He has started to put everything he can get a hold of directly in his mouth.
-He likes to be able to see someone at all times. (a people person)
-He is a little suborn about giving smiles but when he does its the cutest thing ever.
-He loves his binkie. (I don't know how to spell that)
-He doesn't sleep well unless is swaddled tight!!!
-He is really good at getting out of his swaddlers so we have to do it really tight! (see below)
-He is a mover. When awake he kicks his legs and waves his arms constantly.
-He has a small red spot on his eye lid it is called a hemangioma.
(definition: A hemangioma is an abnormal buildup of blood vessels in the skin.)
The doctor said it could take a couple years for it to go away. It may stay the same
or it may just stay the same and after time it will fade.

Milo has brought so much joy into our family! We love him so much!!!

Milo is one lucky little boy. He has so many people that love him so much. Not as much as me and his dad though. How lucky am I to have married such an amazing man. He gave Milo such a great blessing on June 25th. We loved having our friends and family there to celebrate with us.

Matt did another Triathlon on June 25th. This one was an Olympic length one. That means he swam 1500 m, biked 24 miles and ran 6.2 miles. He did so great. He did it in 2 hours and 50 minutes! We are so proud of him.

This was obviously Matt's first Father's Day as a dad. He is such a great dad. He loves our boy so so much. Last week was my first week back at work and Matt is staying home with Milo all day. He does a great job with him and I love him so much for it. I know he is going to be Milo's best friend.

He also got a fun Father's Day gift.

A BBQ. We BBQed yummy burgers and corn on the cob for dinner.

I can hardly even handle how much I love these two!

We started our trip off after the Dirty Dash on June 4th.

We got in the car with us 4 ladies and 2 babies.

Brown Reunion

So I was not very good about taking pictures at this reunion. It was the Brown Reunion so my Grandma and her siblings. My grandma is actually the only one still alive out of her family but we still have a Brown family reunion every other year. This year it was in Southern Utah at the Ponderosa Resort. Labor for Love

The prior post I wrote while in the hospital. I left off from being put on Patosin and being at a 3 1/2 and not being able to feel the contractions yet. A little while after that I started feeling the contractions. It went from not being able to feeling them at all to feeling them really strongly. After a few really painful contractions I sent Matt to go tell the nurse I was ready for the epidural. Unfortunately the Anesthesiologists were all busy with other people or doing c-sections so it took about an hour and a half for them to come give me the epidural. That hour and a half what the worst part of the whole process for me. Finally the Anesthesiologist came and gave me the epidural. I was a bit nervous for this part but before I know it it was over and I didn't even feel anything. The only thing I felt was the numbing they did before the epidural. Just before the epidural they measured me and I was at a 5. An hour after they have me the epidural they lost the babies heart beat on the monitor so they decided to call one of the Residents to place a internal monitor on his head. The Resident came in and when she came to put the monitor on she measured me and I was at a 10 and ready to go. We tried a few pushes to see if I was ready and then they told me to stop pushing because his head was coming out and they had not paged my doctor yet. When my doctor came in I pushed for about 15 minutes and our precious little guy was here! I think my labor was pretty easy. I feel really lucky and blessed for how smooth the process went. It was so much better then what I expected. And the emotions you feel when the little life comes out of you is indescribable. So welcome to our family Milo James Polifka. Born April 20, 2011. 7.5 pounds 20'' long.

Ok this post is from Wednesday I just never posted it.

Sorry this post may be to much info for some of you so if you would prefer not to hear the details of my labor story then don't read this. So Monday I had a doctors appointment. It was just the usual. She measured the cervix to see if I was dilated and I was only at a 2. She also stripped the membranes which is supposed to help the precess go faster. She told me to expect some bleeding that day. So I went home and kinda relaxed that day. I was having so cramping and spot bleeding so I didn't was to overdue myself. Later that evening I was watching tv when I felt a little fluid leakage. I got a little worried that it may have been my water breaking but after thinking about it and reading some stuff online I just figured I was being paranoid. That was monday so yesterday was Tuesday and my due date. I was feeling frustrated that I wasn't feeling many contractions and I seemed to not be progressing much. I went into work and nothing seemed to out of the ordinary except that I was having a little more leaking then usual but I thought it was probably just urine because the baby was dropping farther onto my bladder so I didn't think much of it. So this morning which is Wednesday I was getting up to get ready for work and I was changing when I has some clear liquid squirt out (sorry if that is to graphic). I was pretty sure that was not normal leaking. So I woke Matt up and called the nurse. She said I better come in just to be safe. So at 6:40am this morning we left to come to the hospital. I was sure that I was going to get here and they were just going to say I was being paranoid and that everything was fine and send me home. But I was wrong. My water had broken. I am not sure when it could have been back on Monday or it could have been the squirt I told you about this morning. Either way I have now been admitted to the hospital. They have me on Potosin to help speed up contractions. When I got here I was already at a 3 1/2 and my nurse said I am having contractions every few minutes which is a good sign. I can not feel the contractions yet but the nurse said she is impressed and that I have a high pain tolerance, but that is not going to stop me from getting the epidural when I start feeling these contractions. So that is were we are now. Sorry for the long post but I have time right now so I want to document it for myself and baby while it is fresh in my mind. So today I will be become a mother. CRAZY. I am so so excited though. I am trying to let the excitement take over the nerves but of course I am a little scared and baby is about to exit my body and that is a little scary. I am really shocked if anyone is still reading this ridiculously long post so I am going to go now but I will post soon hopefully about our beautiful baby boy.

For some reason I thought I was going to go into labor early and that was a mistake, because now it is my due date and I still don't have a baby. I am still hoping he is going to come tonight. I have been trying all the things that people say may induce labor naturally but no luck yet. My doctor will induce me a week from today on the 26th if I don't start on my own this week but I really really hope I don't have to wait a whole week. So hopefully you will soon be reading a post about the little guy instead of about my belly growing bigger. So until then wish me luck.

Jazz Belly

Biggest Loser Fans

We went to the Jazz game last week on Thursday. We got some great lower bowl seats from Matt's work. We were just sitting there watching the game when we turn around and see Arthor from the Biggest Loser this season. We are big fans of the show. We then saw that Arthor was not the only one there. There were 5 other contestants. How random that they were at the Jazz game but it was cool to see them.

A few weeks ago Matt raced in his first Triathlon.

It was what they call a Triathlon Sprint so it is short and fast!

They first swim 300 Meters. Then Bike 12 Miles. Then Run 3.1 miles.

I did not do a very good job getting a picture of him on the bike.

He was to fast. This picture below is him transitioning from the bike to the run.

He did so great! No surprise there though. He has always enjoyed and been good at this stuff.

He finished in 1:10:57. He finished 3rd in his age group.

I am so proud of him. He really enjoyed it.

So much actually that he did another one just yesterday,

and of course did even better then the first one even though he

was running and biking in the freezing snow here.

He got 3rd overall and 1st in his age group.

He is planning on doing and Olympic length (800 meter swim, 24 mile bike, 6 mile run)

one later in the summer when it gets warm.

Today is 38 weeks. Only 14 days till my due date. I have thought many times in my life how weird it would be to be that close to having a baby. I have imagined many times what I would be thinking and feeling. Well no more imagining I am living it. It is just as weird as I thought. I have never had so many feelings all at once. I am so excited, nervous, anxious, happy, scared but most of all I just can't wait to meet our little guy. It is a strange feeling knowing it could happen anytime and I just have to wait and anticipate his arrival. I feel like I am huge but when people ask me how far along I am and I tell them most people rave about how good I look. I definitely don't feel like that but it makes me feel a little better.

We finished the baby's room. It is cute but Matt says I need to use the word Awesome because our baby isn't going to be cute he is going to be "Awesome".

My cousin Rachel took a few funny pictures for us. I have seen some other people with pictures like this and thought they were fun so took a few. Thanks again Rachel.

36 Weeks

Alright we are getting close here. I am 36 weeks today so 4 more weeks in counting. I keep hearing that people usually go over with their first baby but the farther along I get the more convinced I am that this little guy is going to show up early. I am getting BIG. You may not think so but I am for sure feeling it. My ankles, feet, fingers, legs and pretty much everything else has started to get very poofy. I am not having fun sleeping at all. I waddle around everywhere. And it takes me like 4 times longer to do things like get up off the couch or walk around the grocery store. Anyhow I think he is going to come before April 19th. We will see though. We just have a few last minute touches until his cute room is done. And a few more things to get but for the most part we are fully ready for him to come. WOO HOO!

Orderville Weekend

This last weekend I made the trip down to my home town of Orderville. A few of my friends came to a baby shower for me. It was fun to see them and catch up a little. I always enjoy going home to see my family and spend a day or two just relaxing. I didn't take many pictures but here are a few.

34 Weeks

Sorry I keep posting behind. I am actually 35 weeks but this picture is from 34 weeks.

Pregnancy is going pretty well. Doctor says everything is looking great. The baby is not moving around quite as much. I don't think he has much room anymore. But don't worry I can still feel him kicking and sticking his feet all up in my ribs. It is really comfy let me tell ya. I am pretty miserable when it comes to sleeping, but I realize that probably won't change once I have the baby. It is crazy for me to think that he could come now at any time and be fine. Obviously I don't want him to come 5 weeks early but its just crazy to know that he could. I am not quite ready for him yet so lets just hope he is not ready yet either. This weekend is "get ready for baby to come weekend".

32 Weeks

Today I am actually 33 weeks. Only 7 weeks left. But this picture is me at 22 weeks.

I am still in awe about how a woman's body can do the things it can. I am getting bigger and bigger everyday and I still have 50 days left. I am really starting to get uncomfortable. I have a really had time sleeping and I am for sure starting to waddle instead of walk haha. I know this is all part of the process. I know that the end product will be worth it so I just keep thinking about that every time by back starts aching. I am nervous for the baby to come but I am more excited.

Baby Shower

On February 19th I had a baby shower. It was so much fun! I love getting together with all my family. I got some really great gifts. Thank you to everyone that gave me such great stuff for our baby boy.

There were also some very fun clever games that you Rachel and Julia.

I didn't post any pictures of the fool but we had a yummy waffle bar. mmm! Thank you Aunt Pam and Aunt Jimae for working so hard for this shower.

Thank you everyone else that did stuff to make my special day so much fun. I am getting more and more excited everyday that gets this baby closer to being here with us.

30 Weeks

I am 30 weeks today. I have 71 days till my due date. Wow crazy! I am feeling pretty good. I am not at all comfortable when sleeping. It is getting harder to do normal things like bend over or stand up or anything like that. I can feel him move all the time. I have noticed lots of movement especially at like 6 am, which unfortunately makes me think that he is going to think that is playtime when he joins us. haha. It is so much fun to feel and see my whole stomach move. I am getting more and more excited and a little nervous. Its coming quick but I am excited to start getting everything ready for him. So here is my big belly at 30 weeks.

Happy Birthday to ME!

For those of you that don't know I am a big Utah Jazz fan. I have had season tickets for 4 years now. Last week Matt surprised me with an early birthday gift. We were headed to the game like we always do. He told me he had a friend he wanted to go say hi to in the lower bowl before we went up to our normal upper bowl seats. We just kept walking down closer and closer to the floor. We got down to the 3rd row that was practically on the court and he said happy birthday these are our seats. It was so cool. I have never been able to sit that close and it was a completely different experience. It was a great birthday gift and I was really surprised.

Then yesterday was my actually birthday and I did exactly what I wanted to do. I relaxed and did nothing. I didn't have to work until 3 pm so I slept in and did pretty much nothing all morning. Then I went into work for 4 hours. When I got off we went out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. One of my favorite places. And then I came home to beautiful flowers and I took a relaxing bath. I have heard with a baby on the way I may not have much time to just relax and have quite time to myself so I was grateful for the day to relax. Matt was great to have candles set up for me and draw me a bath and then leave me alone to enjoy it haha.

I am now 24 and loving it!

Green and Yellow, Black and Yellow

The Superbowl was this last Sunday. The teams playing were the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. If you don't know the colors were Green and Yellow and Black and Yellow. So I decided to do some festive treats. My cousin Mitzi blogged a few weeks ago about these awesome rainbow cupcakes she made for her daughters class. Since then I really wanted to try it. So I made layer color cupcakes and homemade oreos. So my cupcakes were not as cute as my cousins but hey I am new at this homemaking thing so I was pretty proud of myself. So here they are.

26 weeks

I now only have 3 months and 4 days until my due date. CRAZY! I have been feeling pretty well except for I am starting to get pretty uncomfortable. I wake up more often in the night and have to move positions because one of my limbs is asleep or something is hurting. It also take a little more energy to move around. You don't really think about how often you use your ab muscles until you can't use them as much. I am doing pretty good though. I am feeling probably every feeling possible about this little guy coming into this world. I am mostly excited but also anxious, nervous and kinda scared. I know I have a lot of support and that it will be an adventure. I am excited to be a momma and I am excited for Matt to be a dad. I know he will be great. Alright thats all for now. Baby stuff

My dad and step mom bought us a new crib for the baby. Matt and our friend Mike set it up that night. It seems more real now that we have a baby crib set up in our 2nd room.

As for being pregnant. I have actually been doing really good since I stopped being sick around 16 weeks things have been pretty great. I have quite the baby bump now. There is not much I can do to hide it now. It is getting a little uncomfortable to sleep. I have pain in my back every once and a while. I guess I can say the good thing about being so sick in the beginning is that it makes these things seem not bad at all. As for the good stuff, I can feel him moving around and I love it. I am so excited for this little guy to join us. It is fun getting ready for him to come. A bit overwelming because there are a lot of thing that you need before a baby comes but I think we will be plenty prepared.

In less then 4 months a baby will be in here! Crazy!

ZOO Lights

I love Christmas time. I love the Music and I love lights.

On Friday we went with our friend Mike to the Zoo lights.

I was really impressed with their light display.

This guy made a really cool ice sculpture of a reindeer.

Matt always loves playing on the playground.

There were not as many animals as in the summer time but they has some that were

winter animals or animals that were kept inside.

And then of course the lights.

This was really fun. If you are looking for something to do in the Salt Lake area this week I would for sure recommend this!

BLUE!!!

We are having a Boy! We got to see our little guy this morning in an ultrasound. It was so great to be able to see that everything looks good and heathy. He already has the cutest little body. I especially liked seeing his little hands and feet.

We had a great Thanksgiving. Thanks to my Aunt Pam for inviting us over. We alway love spending time at the Hicks home with everyone. We had fun making a Thanksgiving theme cheese ball. I have so much to be thankful for!

It has been so cold here. Below are some pictures of us in the snow. The other day I had to park at the bottom of Capital Hill by the temple and walk up the hill because my car would not make it up the snow covered hill. And Matt has been so so great about waking up early and shoveling the walks.

Being Pregnant

Ok so this is going to be a boring post so you don't have to read it. I keep saying I am going to start a baby journal to write down my feeling on being pregnant so far. But I have not so I want to write a few of my thoughts before I forget them.
So about at 6 weeks of being pregnant I started to get really really sick. It unfortunately started on a weekend so I went about 3 days with throwing up about every half an hour. I could not keep anything down and felt like crap the whole time. Luckily when that weekend was over I was able to get some medicine from the Dr. that made this sickness a bit more bearable. I still felt sick and nauseous all the time but I was throwing up alot less. Nothing ever sounded or tasted good I sort of just ate to keep something in my body. I lost about 14 pounds in all during this time. People kept telling me it will be done soon. So I was hoping at the end of 13 weeks it would stop because I heard it would just be the first trimester. Well 14 weeks came along and I was still a little miserable. It was about 16 weeks to the day that I started to feel much better. So for about 2 weeks now I have been actually enjoying my meals and keeping them down. I still get nauseous if I don't snack on something every hour or so. But it is so much better then before.
I am now at 18 weeks and 2 days. I am back to the weight that I was when I first got pregnant so that is good. 2 nights ago I went to bed at about 10:30 with a really bad pain in my back. I just thought is was sore because I am trying to get used to sleeping on my side. It continued to get worse but was traveling. At about 12:30AM I started to get worried because my chest had a sharp pain in it. My arms were achy and I had a major pounding in my head. I got on my phone and started looking on WebMD at the symptoms I was having because I was kinda nervous I was having a heart attack. So here I am sitting up in my bed balling my eyes out. When it hit me that it could be heart burn. I had never had heart burn before so I never know how horrible it was. After reading up on how to help heart burn I went down stairs for a glass on milk and it went away in about 20 minutes. Let just say the next day I had Matt get me some Tums so keep by my bed just in case.
It is crazy to me to think about how my body is making a baby inside of it. How many things it effects in my body. Like sickness and heartburn and making me tired all of the time. It is just so crazy to think about.
Now that I have told you all the things I have to complain about let me tell you how grateful I am. I have heard that you can not know a love that a parent can have for a child and my child is not even close to being here yet and I already love it so much. It is the greatest miracle that my best friend and I can make a little person together. I am so happy that Heavenly Father has blessed us to be able to start our family and to have this time together before the baby comes. Matt has been so so great. He does pretty much everything for me. He cooks cleans works and goes to school and much more. I can't even imagine what I would do without him. I feel so bad sometimes that I do pretty much nothing but I am so so grateful that I am able to come home from work and sit on the couch and relax when I get home instead of doing house chores. So thank you to my wonderful husband. He is going to be a really great DAD. The other day I told him I read that we need to start talking to the baby so he sat and talked to my stomach telling the baby all the fun things they were going to do when it gets here. Of course they were all really manly things and he called the baby a he even though we don't know what it is yet (we find out the 29th woo hoo).
All the crappy parts of pregnancy are going to be so worth it was this cute little thing comes to join our family!

Oh and PS. I am not putting pictures up yet cause my belly just looks like a fat roll right now so when it gets more shape to it I will put up some pictures.

Vancouver Washington

I am so mad at myself because last week we went to visit Matt's parents in Vancouver and I was so so bad at taking pictures. I kept saying I am going to take pictures but then never did. We had a great time though. We spent alot of time just hanging out relaxing at the house.

On Friday we Celebrated Thanksgiving early with them. Lets of yummy food and good company. This was one of Matt's favorite parts of the trip. He loves PIE!

Happy Halloween

For Halloween we went with our friend Mike to Red Butte Gardens. They do this thing called Gardens After Dark. It is more for kids but I like cheese things like this for halloween because I don't really like scary stuff. They had different stations set up around the gardens and each one was a different Country's traditions for haunted holidays.

This picture was one if the stations. It is an Asian thing that they decorate these lamp things and them let them go in the water. They had a pond that we got to put our lamps out on.

All this fun stuff we actually did on Saturday because Halloween was on a Sunday.

On Sunday we got to celebrate at my Aunt Pams. By making Jack-O-Pizzas and Carmeled Apples! Yum

San Fransisco Giants World Series Champs

As I am sure you all know the San Fransisco Giants won the World Series this year. Matt grew up watching and cheering on the Giants so this was a very happy time at our house. Here is a picture of Matt showing some of his Giants pride.

St. George Marathon

On October 2nd Matt ran the St. George Marathon. He has done 2 marathons (Top of Utah and Boston) before this one, but he said this one has been the hardest one so far. He did so great!

He finished in 3:12:32 as you can see. Overall he finished 294 out of 5,702. In his age group which is 19-24 he finished 13th out of 123.

Every time I watch him run a marathon I can't believe how crazy it is that peoples bodies allow them to run 26.2 miles. It's just CRAZY! He loves it though so I am happy to support him in doing it as long as he doesn't expect me to do it with him haha.

California Trip

Almost 24 years ago Matt was born into the world by a woman that he has not known anything about while growing up. He was adopted at 3 months old. One thing he knew about her was that in a letter she wrote to his parents she wrote that she wanted him to serve an LDS Mission and to get married in the Temple. Matt had not thought much about ever finding his birth mom when he was growing up. When he got closer to serving his mission he started to think about her more. He wished that he could tell her how well he had turned out so far. Then he returned from his mission and met the love of his life (ME). He wished that he could tell her that he was going to be getting married in the temple.
One day last April Matt received a call from his dad. He told Matt that he thinks he found Matt's birth mom on Facebook. They new her maiden name and luckily she had put her full name on her Facebook page. After a few messages back and forth they came to the conclusion that she was who they were looking for. Since then they have had many long phone conversations getting to know each other.
Last week we took a quick trip to Southern California. The main reason that we went was so that we could meet Denise (Matt's birth mom). It was really fun to spend a few days with her and get to know her better. We are looking forward to getting to know her better in the coming years. She took us to this cool restaurant in Malibu and also took us to Santa Monica.

We then met up with my family in Santa Monica.

Friday we went to Disneyland Yay. This trip was a bit different then my passed trips to Disneyland because there were a few rides I was not able to go on because of being pregnant and I spent a lot of time sitting on a bench not feeling really great. But its ok I was just happy to be there. Halloween time is the best time to go to Disneyland with the fun decorations. The happy atmosphere at Disneyland it enough for me.

They have a new water/light show in California Adventure and It was so so cool. I am so glad we went and waited. It was for sure worth it. I loved the whole thing. This picture was taken while we were waiting for the show.

Then this one was at the end of the show. I know you can not see our faces but you can kinda see some of the colorful water things in the back ground.

Then the last day was beach day. We started the day with a little breakfast at Ruby's. And then spent most of the day at the beach.

My mom has all the other pictures on her camera so this is all you get. But that night after the beach we went to a mall. The mall has a Vans Skate Park in it so while Camden spent his time there skating we all go to shop. It was a great get away. I always love vacations even if I am a little sick. It is always fun to spend time with the fam.
Tomorrow we are leaving for St. George. Matt is running the marathon there on Saturday so I will try and update you soon. Until then bye!

I'm Having a Baby!

So this picture pretty much sums up most of what I do now. Sleep. Growing a baby inside you is tiring! We are 9 weeks and 4 days along. We were going to wait longer to tell everyone but I have been pretty sick so we were having to tell people and we just decided to tell everyone.

Some days of being sick are really hard but I try to think about how I am not the only one who has ever gone through this. Actually I am pretty lucky that they have medicine that I can take that makes be feel better. I know some amazing ladies in my past that didn't have that luxury and if they would not have gone through their sickness I wouldn't be here.

My mother was very sick when she was pregnant with me. She had to be hooked up to an IV for the first trimester. She told me that once the precious baby comes to your family you forget about the sickness. I have a letter that she wrote my dad when I was born and a few things she said in it makes me know she is telling the truth.

"She was so beautiful all I could do was sit and cry."

"I cannot believe how much I love her"

I also read a book that I have about what my grandmother felt when my mom joined their family.

"Dixie Lee is the name of our precious, lovely baby girl! I am so thrilled with her that I am giddy! It was worth it all, in spite of how miserable I felt. Now I am flying high. When I have a little new baby, I feel like I'm on a little toot!"

So I am not really sure what a little toot is but it sounds like she was pretty happy. My mom and especially my grandma did not have the medicine that I am able to take. So let me tell you I am thankful to be having a baby in this day and age where that have medicine to make it bearable for me to go on with my everyday life. Other wise I would have been living on my bathroom floor for the last few weeks.

I don't mean to complain. I want to be clear that I am so so excited. I know that anything that I go through in the next 7 months will be well worth the joy our child will bring. I am also so so thankful for my wonderful husband that has been taking such good care of me. I spend a lot of time laying on the couch when I am not at work and he has been so good to keep our house clean and making food and pretty much everything else. I don't know what I would do without him. I am so lucky to have him as my husband.

If anyone has any suggestions on books I should read or anything. Let me know now because it will take me until the baby gets here to take in all the information that I should. I am not a very quick reader haha.

Well this is turning into a really long post but I am excited to become a mom and I will make sure to keep everyone posted.

New Church Building

We had a reunion last months with my dad side of the family.

It was really fun. We spent lots of time at the pool.

We also got to see my brother Camden play in his baseball game!

He did so great! He hit the first hit of the game and brought 3 runners in.

We played some fun games and ate some yummy food!

New Place

In response to my post a few weeks ago about about not liking looking for apartments. Well a few days after that we found a place that we both agreed on. It is very cute and has lots of space. It is on Capital Hill like a block away from the capital. My work is like 2 miles from it and Matt's work is even less then that. We moved in last weekend. Thank you to everyone who helped us! I can't even tell you how much better it is to not have to drive half an hour to get home after work!!! I love it! We are still working on getting settled but things are coming along perfectly! I will post some pictures when we have things more put together!

One of Matt's best friends from high school got married on Aug. 14th. He married a beautiful girl named Emily. We couldn't be more happy for them. We will miss them though since right after getting married they moved to Davis CA.
