Meeting Mr. Marriott

Easter Weekend

Easter weekend was very eventful this year! It was also the weekend of general conference so we had many fun visitors. Matt's parents came into town to visit, and so did mine. We were had fan spending time with both families. I got to hang out with Noah while my mom went to conference on Saturday. We had fun shopping and coloring Easter eggs. As you can see one of Matt's friends took some Polifka family pictures of us.

The Easter bunny came to see us.
And we got to enjoy going to a session on General Conference.

Real Salt Lake

Real Salt Lake is the Major League Soccer Team here in Utah. They just started the team here a few years ago. Last year they won the Championship against the LA Galaxy (who has David Beckham). Anyway so they are kind of a big deal:)

Matt's major in school is communications/ marketing/ PR. He would really love to do PR for a pro sports team one day. Specifically the Chargers or Padres. Which is why it is so cool that a few weeks ago he got an internship working for the Real. His internship is doing sales calls, but last week was the first home game of the season and he was able to work along side the PR guy for the team. He had to go in at 3pm and did not get home until almost midnight. I said a lot of work went into what these guys do, but he really had a great time. He got to run out on the field and watch the game in the press box and go to the after game interviews. He really enjoyed it.

At first he was not so excited about the sales call part, but he really liked working at the game. I am so proud of him for working hard to pursue his dreams. Not to mention I like sports and I would more then love to live in San Diego one day. Haha that's jumping ahead a little but its something to look forward to right :)

Festival of Colors at the Hare Krishna Temple

Holi, The Festival of Colors, is a traditional Indian holiday that marks the burning of an evil Hindu demoness named Holika thousands of years ago. Most of the 10,000 people that gathered at the Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork Utah probably do not know that though. This is a very popular thing to do for all the young people that live in Utah Valley. Most of them probably do not know what the holiday of Holi even is. I didn't before I went. All they know is that it is a fun way to make a mess.

These pictures below are of us waiting to get on the bus that would take us to the temple.

Who knew that this cool indian looking building was out in the farm lands of Spanish fork. As you can see the clouds of color in these pictures. The thing that makes this so much fun is the colorful chalk dust that you spread and throw at everyone there. It is basicly like a big chalk fight. They do a count down and and everyone throws their colored chalk in the air and it is really hard to breath for about 10 seconds, but really cool to see.
Here are some pictures of the crazy crowds of people that were there. I could not beleive how many people were there. I have lived in northern Utah for about 4 years now and I had never even heard of the Festival of Colors.
And here are some pictures after we get out of the crowd. I didn't know this guy and little boy but the kid was so cute and happy with all his colors on that I couldn't resist taking a picture. And of course Matt in his bandana and all his colors.

Right when we got there we started getting colors thrown on us and when we left we were completely covered!

We had lots of fun doing this so if you live in Utah and have not done this before go next year. They do it every year on March 27th and they do 2 celebrations one at noon and one at 4. If you do go though go a couple hours early cuz the crowds are crazy!!!
